The organization 826 National is one that serves as a tutorial resource for students to assist them with becoming better writers, and eventually, allowing them the opportunity to be published authors.  They have multiple chapters across the United States.  Each chapter has a tutoring center and a store for which proceeds go towards self-funding.  Each store is distinct in that each has its own unique theme.  For example, Boston’s chapter is known as the Bigfoot Research Institute of Greater Boston.  Boston’s store not only carries books that were written and published by the kids receiving tutorial services, but also sells Cryptozoologist gear that fits with the theme.
Intrigued by this organization, Professor Farmer wanted to take part in this, or at least use the idea behind the organization as inspiration for an assignment.  To do this, he assigned each student to a city and state, and asked us to create a brand identity for a chapter of 826 National that could potentially exist in that particular city.
The city that I was assigned to was Austin, Texas. In brainstorming with potential ideas, I found myself sympathizing with Texans’ love of food, and decided to give the saying, “Everything is bigger in Texas” a new meaning.  By combining a retro fast food theme with the 826 National branding, I created an entire brand identity, complete with multiple logos, store signs, and products.  I named my 826 National chapter “826 Pounds Enormous Food Co.”  The products I created were large food items, such as 3 liters of wine, and then created labels that were based on my main logo, which had names like “Big Whiner.”
